Background:
A rural comprehensive school situated to the west of the market town of Battle; also a centre for adult and community education, responsible for a youth centre, sports centre and day nursery. Recent additions to the school include two laboratories and a purpose-built music centre. In 1997 a new humanities classroom block opened and technology facilities were extended. Sporting facilities include an outdoor heated swimming pool, 80-metre sports hall, squash court, weight-training rooms and a climbing wall. The school has high expectations of all students and takes its role as a community college very seriously. Over-subscribed, with 1.3 applications per place. Sportsmark; DfES achievement award (2002); Training school status (2003). Ethos: 'The school aims to provide a safe and pleasant environment for effective learning'.
