Background:

Danehill Church of England Primary School was founded in 1864, housed in an old sandstone building. The influence of the church is maintained in both the school's collective worship and the appointment of the foundation of governors. The school encourages visitors from Christian and other faiths to join assemblies throughout the year. The school has two standard playgrounds and an adventure playground. Playing fields and tennis courts are nearby. Sports offered include games, athletics, swimming, gymnastics and dance. A week at an activity centre is available for Years 5 and 6. The school also offers extra-curricular activities which include netball, football, rounders, dance, recorders and computers. There is French Club and the East Sussex County Music service offers peripetetic music lessons for a small fee. The school has an active Parents and Teachers Association which organises a variety of events throughout the year. An extension to the School is in progress which will provide space for the Arts, a pre-school, and out-of-hours childcare.
