Background:
Heathfield School and Community College opened its doors in 1950. The college is set on a rural wooded campus in the Sussex Weald and includes a sixth form centre, new performing arts and sports centre and a computer suite. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These include art, computer club, choir, college orchestra, dance and drama club. The college has an excellent reputation for its high standard of music. Students are also encouraged to take part in a variety of sports clubs, and to become members of college inter-form teams. The school has also achieved the following awards: Specialist College in Visual and Performing Arts, DfES achievement award in 2003, Artsmark Gold and Specialist Schools Trust. The college aims to provide a friendly and welcoming environment.
