Background:
Pebsham County Primary School was built in 1978 and extended in 1990, and an extra classroom was completed in 1999. The grounds consist of two playgrounds and a large field. It has a 'spacious and attractive' teaching environment with views of the sea. Football, cricket, rugby and netball teams have achieved success locally and the school fielded local fun-run winners. The school offers a range of extra-curricular activities such as gardening, recorder lessons, a choir and outdoor activities. There is also a residential trip for Year 6 pupils. The school works closely with the special school that is situated on the same site as well as having a 'special link' with the Pestalozzi Children's Village. The PTA has registered as a charity and provides a number of social occasions for parents to meet as well as taking part in 'very successful' fund raising. Pupils are encouraged to raise funds and in 1999 supported a number of local and national charities. Links with the community are maintained through a Christmas concert given in local day centres. The school is also a member of the Bexhill Regeneration Group which has provided it with computers and books among other things.
