Background:
The school is about 30 years old and is sited in the north of Hailsham. Facilities include its own swimming pool. It offers 'great strengths' in ICT and music, and organises 'frequent' public performances. It is proud of its 'great success' in football and in cricket, in which its team were county winners. Hawkes Farm 'plays a significant role' in the community and gives public performances in the town centre. local theatres, churches and old peoples homes. Children are also encouraged to raise money for charity. The headteacher was invited to meet HRH Prince of Wales at Highgrove as a result of the first Ofsted inspection of Hawkes Farm in 1993, and Chris Woodhead, HM Chief Inspector of Schools visited the school in 1999.
