Background:
St Mary Magdalen's is a Catholic, voluntary aided primary school for children form aged three to 11 years. It is situated in the centre of Brighton, very close to the main shopping thoroughfare of Western Road. The main building, which dates from 1968 ' the school has a nursery class and then seven other classes, which range from reception to Year 6. The school has three different playgrounds and small environmental area. It also has a large, airy, multi-purpose hall and recent extensions have added a computer suite, a library, an extra classroom and a smaller room. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include puppet making, gardening, board games, construction kits, computer skills, cooking, juggling, hockey, table tennis and rounders. The school aims to provide a secure and stimulating environment in which children develop the confidence to become independent learners.
