Background:

There has been a school in the Parish of St Pancras for over a century, originally housed in two cottages on the site of the present church. St Pancras Catholic Primary School moved to its current site in 1930. The original buildings have been extended and improved over the years and there is a project currently ongoing to provide an arts and science area at the rear of the school. There are five classrooms, a large hall, a library area, cloakroom area, two offices and a small room for music tuition, small group teaching and medical resources. The school's grounds offer a netball court, a tarmac area and a garden area. The playground has been developed and improved in recent years and now has seating, a fenced off area with playhouse and a large climbing frame. The school draws from a wide geographical and economic area in and around Lewes, with children coming from a variety of backgrounds. Opportunities are provided for children to attend after-school activities in these and other areas, and the school takes part in most local sporting events. Instrumental tuition in cello, violin, flute and guitar is provided by the East Sussex Music Service. There is an active Parents and Teachers Association which raises funds and provides social events for adults and children.
