Background:

Aldrington Church of England Aided Primary School is an Evangelical Christian School adhering to the beliefs of the Anglican Church. The Christian faith contributes significantly to the spiritual, moral, and cultural life of the school, as clearly expressed in the aims agreed by the Governors and Staff as set out overleaf. The exact date of the official opening of Aldrington School is unknown but the 1st logbook entry is dated March 26th 1889. The school was situated just south of Aldrington station overlooking Portland Road in Hove. Towards the end of the 1980s Governors decide to build a new school on its present site next to Nevill playing fields. In July 1990, the foundation stone of the new building was laid. The new school opened on the 5th September 1991 for children aged five to 11. Clubs for junior children includes football, cricket, rugby, chess, cross-country, netball, and cricket tournaments over the past few years. Various visits are also encouraged during the year. These include day visits to places of interest connected with topics that the children are studying.
