Founded in 1866, the school is situated in a village location next to a recreation ground. It has modern buildings and an 'excellent' sports hall. The school's academic 'strengths' lie in mathematics, science and reading and it is also proud of the 'frequent, top quality' music and drama productions it produces throughout the year. The school'supports a child in The Gambia through Action Aid as well as raising funds for national and international charities. It maintains 'strong' links with the local community through the church and holds a senior citizen's tea party every year.
